If you’ve been following my Instagram, you probably know that I was on vacation last month. It was an amazing week on the beach and so relaxing that I didn’t want to leave. Going into the week though, I had never been on a vacation where all we did was relax on the beach. In the past when we’ve visited the beach we’ve been on cruises, which led to us only being on the beach three times for 3-4 hours a day. This made me a little lost on how to pack for this kind of vacation. That’s why I’m going to share with you what I learned from this experience!
To the left is a photo of everything I brought with me (minus a few things I’d rather not put on the internet).
When packing for a beach vacation it’s important to remember where you’ll be at assorted times during your trip. You can break your trip down into Non-Beach Day, Beach, Evening, and Extras.
When you aren’t at the beach, it’s pretty safe to assume you won’t want to be in swimwear and a coverup. So under this part of the packing list we have:
- 4 pairs of athletic shorts
- 1 pair jean shorts
- 6 t-shirts
- A cardigan for when it’s cold in the mornings and evenings
Since this is one of the most key parts of a BEACH vacation, it’s important to spend a lot of your packing time on this section. I can successfully say I did not wear the same combination of swim top and swim bottoms the whole trip! This part of my suitcase included:
- 5 swim tops
- 4 swim bottoms
- 3 tank tops to wear as a cover up
- a denim shirt (worn as a coverup on the beach)
- a white kimono (worn as a coverup with shorts)
- 1 pair of torn athletic shorts that could get wet
In the evenings we often went out to fun, local restaurants. We would often get dressed up before going out so we felt a little nicer after being on the beach all day. (We were also used to having to get dressed up for dinner on cruises so ya know… habits). Anyway it’s fun to feel nice after a day on the beach and rock your summer glow and take pictures. So for the evenings I brought:
- 2 rompers
- A blouse
- 2 pairs of fashion shorts
These are some extra things to have to make the trip easier that don’t necessarily relate to clothes.
- A selfie stick (bc duh)
- A towel or three
- Towel clips so your beach towel doesn’t slip off your chair a bazillion times and slowly drive you into madness (can ya tell I’m bitter?) I got some great ones on Amazon
- Waterproof phone bags (You can get them here)
- A good book (or three)
- A bluetooth speaker
- A rockin’ beach playlist
I had so so much fun on my beach vacation! If you ever get the chance I highly recommend the Silver Towers Condos in Destin, Fl. They had a private beach right behind the condo and the best pizza I’ve ever had right across the street (shout out to the sea food pizza at Merlin’s, only found in Destin!!) Comment below if you know of any other places for a super fun beach vacation!
